Due to their transparent, translucent properties, interest in Capiz shells has increased dramatically in recent years, leading to a sharp decline in stocks. In order to protect the ecosystem, the plates of this wind chime were pressed and shaped from shell extracts and remains in the Indonesian archipelago.
